Medical transport at Main Taxi Frankfurt
First of all: There’s a big difference between medical transport and medical journeys. Medical transports are journeys in which people are transported under medical supervision. Medical journeys do not require medical supervision of the person being transported. Main Taxi Frankfurt provides medical journeys, and under certain conditions, we handle billing with the insurance company or the insurance carrier.
Different types of medical journeys
Whether unexpected or foreseeable: The reasons for medical transport are usually exhausting, and in such moments, it is important to avoid any avoidable stress in the first place. This includes the bureaucracy involved in a medical transport, for which Main Taxi Frankfurt provides advice and support. There are many reasons for medical transport, which is why the prescriptions are also structured differently. Outwardly, there are often no noticeable differences, as the prescription for medical transport is presented on a doctor’s form, but the differences lie in the details.
Medical transports are usually ordered by doctors (practice/clinic/hospital) using a medical transport prescription. The completed forms state whether someone is being driven to an appointment on the same day or to several appointments over a longer period of time.
In some cases, the prescription for medical transport requires additional insurance approval. This approval is requested from the insurance company by the passenger in advance of the trip.
How to order a taxi for a medical journey:
Medical transport certificate
If the issued medical transport order is only for a single appointment and a round trip on one day, it is referred to as a medical transport certificate. If all relevant information on this medical transport certificate has been provided by the doctor, practice, clinic, etc., only then can a taxi be ordered by telephone without prior notice, citing the medical transport certificate.
This medical transport certificate must be handed over to the driver in its original form.
If only one medical transport certificate is available, but a round trip is to be made, make a copy of the certificate once, hand the copy to the driver on the outward journey, and hand the original to the driver on the return journey. Ensure that each driver receives a copy. If you are not exempt from the co-payment, the co-payment of €5 to €10 must be paid directly to the driver at the end of the journey.
Standing prescription and customer card
If you require medical transport for a longer period (>1 day), please contact us early regarding your ongoing medical transport order, as we need to review the documents before the first trip. In some cases, this means that there may be a delay of at least four to five business days between the initial contact and Main Taxi Frankfurt's confirmation of the trip and its billing. You can scan and email the documents to us at any time to discuss the trip in advance. This allows us to promptly clarify any questions or work with you to have the issuer correct any errors in the order promptly.
Once the general terms and conditions have been clarified and the relevant documents are available, you will receive a customer card with a customer card ID from Main Taxi Frankfurt for a longer period of time based on the documents. You can use this customer card from then on for trips to your appointments from your home address to the prescribed treatment facility and back. When ordering by phone, information about the trip being provided on your customer card is essential so that billing can be guaranteed using the customer card. The customer card or customer card ID must be carried on every journey and shown to the driver at the end of each journey. If you are not exempt from co-payments, we will send you an invoice for your co-payments to your home address. No co-payments will be made in taxis in connection with a customer card.
